Serve as day-shift Manager, Data Center Operations responsible for operational integrity and regulatory compliance of electrical, mechanical, fire life safety systems, and communications infrastructure
Oversee mechanical systems (chilled water systems, rooftop HVAC units, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification systems) and electrical systems (utility/generator main switchgear through UPS to customer load)
Manage fire life safety systems including wet sprinkler and pre-action sprinkler systems and associated detection devices
Manage communications infrastructure including IDF/MDF/MMR, structured cabling, and customer space
Vendor management for daily work and service contracts; manage vendor procurement and billing process
Project management for all aspects from conception to completion, including commissioning activities and MOP writing
Develop and implement operational strategies to improve data center efficiency and energy management while maintaining uptime
Train and mentor technicians; serve as training instructor and ensure technicians are qualified and aware of code/standards revisions
Assist Senior Manager and Market Director in developing OPEX and CAPEX budgets, forecasts, and project ROI modeling
Create detailed technical procedures for maintenance events, emergencies, and standard site evolutions; expert review of procedures, standards and policies
Manage site audits (internal and external) and ensure adherence to compliance standards
Navigate and utilize a CMMS system and ensure SLA processes and OSS data uploads
Provide day-to-day customer service and support; be available on-call for emergency situations
Promote CoreSite’s Principles of Operational Excellence and company culture; perform special projects as assigned
Requirements
Interact with CoreSite personnel, vendors, partners, contractors and clients
Expert understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment (electrical distribution/layout, Transformers, PLCs, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, STSs, ATSs, PDUs, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAHs, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems)
Expert knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and building codes related to fire life safety
Expert knowledge of fiber optics / cabling infrastructure and industry best practices
Expert knowledge in industrial safety best practices (lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA and state regulations)
Expert knowledge and experience with data trending/tracking and PC-based integrated critical monitoring systems
Expert knowledge of energy efficiency best practices
Proficient in electrical, mechanical, protection, and controls systems commissioning
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems (Chilled Water Systems, Large Centrifugal Chillers, Cooling Towers, Heat Exchangers, Water Treatment Systems, VFDs and Pumps, HVAC equipment, CRAC/CRAHs, Humidification Systems, BMS and PLC Controls, Emergency Standby Diesel Generator Systems, Fuel/Oil systems, 480/277 and 208/120 electrical generation and distribution, Static UPS Systems, Double Interlock Pre-Action Systems)
7 or more years in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (data center, hospital, or power plant preferred)
3-5 years experience administering and managing facility preventative maintenance programs and budgets
3-5 years experience in vendor and project management
3-5 years experience in technical procedure and policy writing
3-5 years experience in people management
Experienced people manager with proven leadership skills
Experienced vendor management skills including service contract management
Experienced project management skills, including budgeting, time tracking, schedule creation, scope development, contract management
Proven skills in facility budgeting and forecasting
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Ability to pass extensive background check, employment/education verification, Department of Motor Vehicle and credit check
Must be currently authorized to work in the United States; employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas
Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift up to 50 pounds as described in physical demands
Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support
