About the role
- As a Refrigeration Project Engineer, you will design and manage engineering projects from conception through completion.
- You will leverage your expertise in refrigeration and controls design, construction, and installation to deliver high-quality, code-compliant solutions.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and structural engineers, architects, and construction project managers.
- Be responsible for the production, coordination, and quality control of refrigeration engineering construction documents while ensuring alignment with client requirements, code compliance, and site-specific adaptations.
- Conduct site visit investigations and generate reports and recommendations based on findings.
- Produce design tasks and reports under the direction of senior staff.
- Assist in maintaining task budgets.
- Coordinate and assist with addendums, RFI's and change orders.
- Assist in coordinating the work of a multi-disciplined team throughout the design development and contract document phases of a project.
- Assist senior staff with the project approval process.
- Other related responsibilities as necessary to fulfill the objectives of this role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related discipline).
- 4+ years of experience in refrigeration system design and preparation of construction documents, preferably for commercial projects such as retail grocery supermarkets or cold storage facilities.
- Experience in refrigeration equipment selection and sizing (compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, pressure-regulating valves) and piping design (sizing and layout)
- EIT preferred
- Revit, MS Office required, AutoCAD is a plus
