About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage public-sector bids, including calling on municipalities, attending openings, promoting products, and following up on bid awards
- Correlate cost information within required bid timelines
- Prepare formal quotations, submittals, and compliant competitive proposals
- Enter purchase orders and follow up with customers to ensure prompt order fulfillment
- Manage RFGs by checking with purchasing agents/buyers and searching for new RFGs
- Maintain and log quotation projects
- Assist with project management and coordinate deliverables
- Serve as the focal point for questions about quote and proposal specifics
- Prepare monthly reports tracking quotation activity and key metrics
- Meet with customers and strengthen professional relationships
- Identify, evaluate, and manage public-sector bid opportunities for municipal water and wastewater operations equipment
- Review bid documents, product specifications, and contract requirements
- Coordinate with sales teams, vendors, and operations personnel
- Track deadlines and prepare bid packages
- Ensure pricing, certifications, and compliance documents are complete
- Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the solicitation process
- Troubleshoot complex problems and independently develop solutions
- May oversee project completion, including planning, assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must pass pre-employment assessments, if applicable
- Typically requires a BS/BA in a related discipline
- Generally 5–8 years of experience in a related field
- Certification is required in some areas
- Proficient in obtaining certificates of insurance and bid bonds
- Proficient with electronic bid submission portals such as Bidnet, OpenGov, Bonfire, and Ionwave
- Familiarity with national cooperative contracts including Sourcewell, AXIA, or OMNIA is a bonus
- Broad knowledge of product lines
- Strong attention to detail and project management skills
- Knowledge of public procurement procedures
- Ability to analyze technical specifications to maximize sales opportunities and mitigate contractual risk
- Ability to make decisions under uncertainty and troubleshoot complex problems
