About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with engineering teams to identify new inventions and innovations
  • Evaluate ideas to determine whether they are suitable for patent protection
  • Conduct patent searches and review existing technologies
  • Support internal review committees that assess invention disclosures
  • Coordinate with external patent counsel to prepare and file patent applications
  • Review technical documents and ensure accuracy for patent filings
  • Track and manage early stages of the patent application process

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
  • 3–8+ years of relevant experience in engineering or related field
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand and explain technical concepts clearly
  • Working knowledge of patents, intellectual property, or innovation processes (preferred)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (engineering + legal is a plus)
  • Familiarity with HVAC, industrial, or mechanical systems (preferred)
  • Interest in pursuing a career in intellectual property
