Legal Counsel
CopelandLegal Counsel responsible for managing legal affairs and providing advice on commercial and procurement matters in LATAM. Drafting contracts and ensuring compliance with regulations while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Draft and negotiate legal documents such as sales contracts and procurement agreements
- Manage legal matters in LATAM related to employee relations
- Manage and advise the business regarding commercial and procurement matters
- Provide legal advice and interpretation of legal matters
- Perform due diligence reviews
- Conduct legal research and draft legal opinions
- Provide legal support on other matters that the business or legal function may need
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and statutory regulations
- Provide direction and training to business units regarding various legal topics
- Coordinate, facilitate, and lead the resolution of customers' disputes
- Calculate and handle risks in business processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Legal Degree
- 3+ years of experience in commercial or project counsel role
- Experience with large complex projects an asset
- Prior experience collaborating with teams across LATAM strongly preferred
- Strong work ethic, superior organizational skills
- Ability to foster a culture of collaboration
- Demonstrated commitment to centering diversity and equity
- Excellent judgment
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Strong negotiating skills with legal and financial/commercial issues
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
- Languages: Spanish and English
