About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plays a critical role in supporting the genetic counseling team
  • Ensures efficient coordination of patient and clinic-related activities by maintaining clear communication channels between internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Responsible for a wide range of administrative functions, including review of submitted referral documentation, triaging inbound phone calls, serving as a primary point of contact for patients and clinic partners, responding to general inquiries, and scheduling patient genetic counseling consultations.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and work under deadlines.
  • Prior experience within a genetics or healthcare setting strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic interpretation of genetic testing results is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and/or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems preferred.
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Willingness to complete a Genetic Counseling Assistant course after approximately 1 year of successful service.
