About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage strategic and operational business development support through the Business Development Drivers Team
- Strengthen campaign execution, account planning, opportunity development, meeting preparation, follow-up and pipeline discipline
- Implement structured processes for meeting preparation, opportunity development and consistent pipeline management
- Oversee high-impact briefing materials and meeting preparation strategies
- Partner with Marketing to manage lead flow and action items, converting campaign engagement and market outreach into qualified opportunities
- Manage the team serving as the central coordination point between Marketing, BD leaders and Partners
- Establish best practices for translating internal discussions and client meetings into actionable plans
- Drive opportunities through the pipeline through persistent follow-up and internal accountability
- Oversee tracking of activity, opportunity status and account actions for senior leadership reviews
- Refine business development support processes and create scalable systems to improve efficiency
- Serve as direct supervisor and mentor to direct reports
- Provide day-to-day supervision and monitor compliance with work hours and firm and department policies
- Manage staffing coverage and review and process time logs and time-off requests
- Support business professional development and continued educational opportunities
- Participate in hiring, performance appraisals, counseling, termination and other employee lifecycle events with the immediate supervisor and central HR
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
Requirements
What you’ll need- After orientation at Cooley LLP, proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
- Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
- Ability to travel, as required
- 5+ years applicable experience in marketing or business development
- Demonstrated business development skills, including pipeline management and campaign execution
- Strong working knowledge of enterprise CRM ecosystems, such as Salesforce
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Supervisory experience (preferred)
- Prior legal industry or professional services experience (preferred)
- Excellent attention to detail
