About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Translate practice-specific marketing plans into detailed briefs for the Campaign Strategy team
  • Engineer customer journeys to deliver business-unit outcomes
  • Consult with the Insights team on buyer profiles and influencers
  • Direct strategy for practice-building initiatives
  • Ensure “Always Ready” materials and sales touchpoints reflect market trends and buyer behavior
  • Partner with Marketing & Client Development leaders on enterprise roadmaps and channel strategies
  • Define triggers and content requirements for practice-level personalization
  • Oversee the business-unit-specific marketing budget
  • Provide strategic recommendations on sponsorship and practice-level spend ROI
  • Lead strategy and narrative development for complex, high-stakes pitches and proposals
  • Collaborate with Client Development and Pursuits & Proposals teams
  • Interpret dashboard data with Insights & Optimization
  • Recommend strategic shifts in the marketing plan
  • Supervise and mentor direct reports
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and monitor compliance with work hours and firm and department policies
  • Manage staffing coverage and process time logs and time-off requests
  • Support professional development and continuing education
  • Participate in hiring, performance appraisals, counseling, termination and other employee lifecycle events
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
  • Ability to travel, as required
  • 8+ years of applicable experience in marketing or business development
  • 4+ years of management experience, with some at the senior level preferred
  • Prior professional services industry experience and/or B2B marketing experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Prior legal industry experience preferred
  • Entrepreneurial by nature
