About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze and process all conflict requests, including more complex requests
- Prepare database search terms and create conflicts reports for related parties
- Perform corporate research to confirm the identity of all parties associated with requests
- Identify existing and potential conflicts by reviewing conflicts reports
- Understand and interpret database results for firm partners, counsel, and attorneys
- Interact regularly with partners to discuss potential issues
- Maintain conflicts resolution notes for each request
- Draft conflict waivers and engagement letters as necessary
- Provide conflicts training for secretaries, paralegals, attorneys and business professionals
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years progressive experience in a law firm, legal environment, or conflicts department, with 3+ years in conflicts or legal intake
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, iManage, and other firm applications after orientation
- Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
- Analytical and critical thinking skills for tasks
- Understand database results and conflicts reports
- Knowledge of American Bar Association’s Model Rules of Professional Conduct
- Legal and corporate research skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or JD preferred
- Paralegal Certificate preferred or completion of an ethics course in a paralegal program
