Inventory Operator
Cookie InformationInventory Operator handling physical and system-based inventory checks for logistics company. Support stock accuracy through various inventory checks and investigations on the warehouse floor.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Actively work on the warehouse floor to maintain a good understanding of processes and stock movement.
- Carry out PI counts, recounts, stock record checks and other scheduled inventory checks as instructed.
- Ensure locked inventory is checked and managed in line with site process, including regular checks at least every two hours or as required.
- Investigate and clear auto-generated stock checks, escalating unresolved issues to the Inventory Team Leader.
- Investigate warehouse queries, stock discrepancies, nil picks, short picks, unidentified inventory and stock not found issues.
- Complete physical checks including adjacent location checks, empty location checks, batch/serial/expiry checks and system checks.
- Gather clear evidence to support stock adjustments, client claims, recounts and discrepancy investigations before action is taken.
- Complete spot checks on picking and goods-in activities where required and trained.
- Investigate reasons for unidentified inventory and support return-to-stock activity where instructed.
- Ensure stock is checked against the correct SKU, batch, serial, expiry, condition code, UOM and location where applicable.
- Ensure stock is held in appropriate zones and raise any storage or location concerns to the Inventory Team Leader.
- Provide assistance with QC checks, VAS work or operational support where requested and trained
- Raise repeated issues or improvement ideas to the Inventory Team Leader, but do not own reporting, process design or client escalation unless authorised.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Good attention to detail and accuracy when counting, checking and recording stock.
- Able to follow instructions, processes and investigation standards consistently.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work on the warehouse floor and understand operational processes.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Experience using WMS systems such as CargoWrite or RedPrairie, or willingness to learn.
- Professional approach to stock accuracy, safety, housekeeping and customer requirements
- Previous stock control, warehouse, inventory or investigatory experience is beneficial
- CargoWrite / RedPrairie experience or WMS Basic training is advantageous
- Experience completing PI counts, stock checks or warehouse discrepancy investigations-desirable
- MHE experience or licences such as RT, HLOP, MEWP or VNA are desirable but not essential.
