About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the customs operations of the company, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and procedures
- Lead and manage a team of customs specialists, providing guidance, support, and training as needed
- Process customs entries and clearances for import and export shipments
- Monitor and manage the timely processing of customs entries to avoid any delays or penalties
- Develop and maintain relationships with customs officials, brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient customs clearance processes
- Ensure all customs-related documentation is accurate, complete, and in compliance with regulations
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients, addressing any customs-related concerns or questions they may have
- Conduct regular audits of customs operations to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary
- Stay up-to-date with changes to customs regulations, laws, and procedures and ensure that the team is informed and trained accordingly
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as logistics, supply chain management, or international business
- Additional certification in customs or logistics is a plus
- At least 5 years of experience in customs operations or customs brokerage, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role
- Knowledge of customs regulations, laws, and procedures
- Experience working with customs officials, brokers, and other stakeholders
- Strong understanding of import and export processes and documentation requirements
- Fluent in English (oral and written)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with customs-related software and systems such as ACE and CustomsLink is a plus
