About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and implement regional health and safety policies, procedures, and training programs in alignment with corporate standards and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and standards across North America, South America, and Canada.
  • Collaborate with operations management, human resources, and other departments to integrate health and safety best practices into daily operations.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to regional teams on all health and safety matters, including risk assessments, emergency preparedness, and occupational health.
  • Monitor and analyze health and safety performance data, identify trends, and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Manage and mentor a team of health and safety professionals within the region.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on health and safety performance to the client and to senior leadership.
  • Stay informed of new health and safety legislation, industry best practices, and emerging risks.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in health and safety management within a logistics, manufacturing, or similar industrial environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards in North America (OSHA, EPA), South America (local equivalents), and Canada (Provincial regulations).
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety programs that drive tangible improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to travel frequently across North America, South America, and Canada.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Microsoft Office & G Suite a plus.
