About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical support to employees and contractors for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of system components
  • Prepare estimates, material requisitions, specifications, and drawings for internally designed projects
  • Recommend solutions for technical problems involving electrical equipment and systems
  • Serve as lead engineer on design projects by checking contractor-submitted designs, issuing approved projects for construction, and participating in conceptual designs and layouts
  • Create designs for substation installations, protective relaying systems, relay settings, and SCADA systems, with review by Senior Engineers
  • Collaborate with engineers and departments on consulting, project management, resource organization, and maintenance
  • Generate internal and external reports on facets of the transmission system
  • Attend meetings and training sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, major in Electrical Engineering or relevant equivalent experience and/or education
  • Minimum two years of related work experience for Intermediate Engineer level
  • Minimum five years of related work experience for Senior Engineer level
  • Power system coursework preferred for electrical engineering majors
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Utility experience preferred
  • Sound analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under minimal supervision in a team environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Ability to learn and utilize job-specific software
  • Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
