About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide technical support to employees and contractors for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of system components
Prepare estimates, material requisitions, specifications, and drawings for internally designed projects
Recommend solutions for technical problems involving electrical equipment and systems
Serve as lead engineer on design projects by checking contractor-submitted designs, issuing approved projects for construction, and participating in conceptual designs and layouts
Create designs for substation installations, protective relaying systems, relay settings, and SCADA systems, with review by Senior Engineers
Collaborate with engineers and departments on consulting, project management, resource organization, and maintenance
Generate internal and external reports on facets of the transmission system
Attend meetings and training sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, major in Electrical Engineering or relevant equivalent experience and/or education
Minimum two years of related work experience for Intermediate Engineer level
Minimum five years of related work experience for Senior Engineer level
Power system coursework preferred for electrical engineering majors
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
Utility experience preferred
Sound analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask and work under minimal supervision in a team environment
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access
Ability to learn and utilize job-specific software
Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
