About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manages federal regulatory activities, including transmission policy development, tariffs and regulatory proceedings for transmission operations, capital projects and business expansion opportunities.
  • Advocates for and shapes transmission policy to create a regulatory climate to support business unit operations.
  • Drives formulation of regulatory strategy for engagement in transmission policy and regulatory proceedings for the company.
  • Responsible for effectively managing relationships with internal and external constituents, ensuring a strong reputation for the department and company.
  • Represents the company at the Federal Regulatory Commission, state regulatory commissions, trade coalitions, industry associations, Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) committees, industry events and conferences, stakeholder meetings and other venues.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline required; Master's degree in Business Administration or other relevant discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience as an electric utility Regulatory Analyst or similar function.
  • Experience and proficiency in regulatory policy and transmission pricing; strong advocate of company position in various forums.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) and establish rapport with management, colleagues, regulators, stakeholders/customers and other individuals inside and outside the company.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to motivate and supervise employees.
  • Possesses and demonstrates leadership qualities, logical problem-solving skills, and strong negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of roles, responsibilities, and requirements of state public utility commissions, the Federal Power Act, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Energy, and North American Electric Reliability Corporation.
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment; capable of managing multiple projects and tasks and ensuring their timely completion.
  • Ability to travel for company business, including overnight stays, up to several times per month.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
