About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare molds, including bottom blocks, positioning based on ingot size to be cast, and ensuring proper alignment
- Inspect mold/tooling for defects such as cracks in graphite liners or incorrect water patterns, using precision instruments to verify that they meet specifications
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving issues with casting molds/tooling which affect the overall production process
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on molds/tooling and mold shop equipment, including cleaning and lubricating machines, to minimize downtime
- Adhere to strict safety procedures and guidelines when working with molten metal and heavy machinery
Requirements
What you’ll need- A minimum of 5-7 years of related machinist experience in industrial manufacturing
- High school diploma or GED is required
- An associate degree or vocational training for an industrial machinist preferred
- Expertise in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Proficiency with a variety of hand, power, and diagnostic tools
- Must be willing to work a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
