About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, enhance, debug, support, and maintain mainframe COBOL-based retail lending, leasing, and collections applications
- Participate in the design, development, and installation of complex batch and online COBOL programs and components
- Ensure application design adheres to the overall architectural blueprint
- Partner with multiple delivery teams on application enhancements and process improvements
- Analyze issues and develop innovative solutions
- Build knowledge of systems integration, architecture, and infrastructure to accomplish business goals
- Assess risk while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Mentor less-experienced colleagues
- Write and maintain documentation for mainframe applications and processes
- Manage and implement projects from design through implementation
- Support application development, infrastructure, IT operations, and production support
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of COBOL application development experience, including systems analysis, design, and programming on mainframe-based financial software applications
- 5+ years of experience with COBOL, JCL, TSO, ISPF, VSAM, EZTRIEVE, CICS, and IBM MQ
- 5+ years of experience with IBM or CA development product and tool suites
- 5+ years of experience providing application development, infrastructure, IT operations, and production support using the listed tools and programs
- Experience managing and implementing successful projects from design through implementation
- Experience supporting B2B communications and FTP, SFTP, and FTPS protocols
- UNIX, Linux, or OMVS experience is a plus
- Experience developing web services in a mainframe environment is highly desirable
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is preferred
- Self-starter requiring minimal guidance
- Ability to assess risk and comply with applicable policies and procedures
