About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and mentor teams of Java engineers, fostering strong modern engineering practices, code quality, and continuous improvement.
Mentor and encourage professional development in teams.
Work with Architecture and own decisions for Java-based payment systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
Remain hands-on in reviewing designs, frameworks, and proof-of-concepts using modern Java and Spring technologies.
Guide the teams in modernizing existing system with performance, reliability and fault tolerance in mind.
Oversee data modeling, API design, and integration patterns across the platform.
Partner with product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Ensure CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices are consistently applied.
Ensure maintenance of documentation, system reports, and architectural artifacts (UML, sequence diagrams, etc.)
Up to 25% travel

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with remote teams
Coach teams in following Agile Scrum methodologies
Ability to maintain professionalism and efficiency in meetings in stressful situations
12+ years of development experience, ideally with Java, Spring Boot
5 + years of Management experience
Understanding of Microservices architecture
CI/CD pipelines and test-driven development
Strong data modeling and system design capabilities
Ability to pick up new technologies quickly and guide teams through adoption, aligning with Architecture
Passion for technology, innovation, and building high-performing engineering teams.
