About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The Staff Accountant position analyzes and reports on financial data to help the business run efficiently.
- Process business transactions including accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers, and receipts.
- Participate in key areas of the monthly financial close to ensure timely and accurate reporting on financial results.
- Prepare journal entries, reconcile various balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Assists employees, vendors, clients, and/or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures and services.
- Responsible for accounting functions that are part of an efficient month-end closing process, including reporting.
- Properly store and manage financial data.
- Regularly review bookkeeping for accuracy, provide reporting as necessary for audits.
- Review and update accounting processes and procedures as needed.
- Make financial recommendations.
- Collaborate with accounting team as necessary.
- Maintain confidential and secure storage of important financial information.
- Ensure all bookkeeping is accurate and adheres to state and federal law.
- Complete ad hoc projects and generate monthly reports as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- 3+ years of progressive and operational accounting experience.
- Strong Excel skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.
- Operationally comfortable with GAAP.
- Must be able to pass an extensive background check and drug screen.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience with software system conversion is a plus.
- Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to organize work, identify and complete critical tasks, and work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds across locations and departments.
- Ability to clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and to listen effectively to customer needs.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.
- Willingness to take on new projects or assignments.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
- Travel up to 5% of the time, some overnight travel required.
