About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the company on regulatory issues and opportunities with a specific focus on operational regulatory oversight and plant compliance
- Lead and support projects, programs, and processes to ensure regulatory compliance
- Work cross-functionally with functional and operating groups on regulatory topics impacting manufacturing operations
- Provide regulatory management and oversight with particular focus on special situations and plant-level regulatory agency support
- Support regulatory oversight of manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Partner cross-functionally to communicate current and emerging regulatory issues, opportunities, and their impact on operations, products, and product technology
- Identify opportunities to leverage regulations to provide competitive advantage
- Provide regulatory guidance and respond to operational compliance questions
- Support development and maintenance of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points and Food Safety Plans
- Identify and engage internal resources to address tactical regulatory topics
- Assist Regulatory Affairs leadership in implementing programs that improve efficiency, speed, and quality of regulatory responses
- Provide training related to new regulatory developments
- Support manufacturing facilities in responding to regulatory findings
- Provide focused regulatory support to an assigned facility during the initial months of employment
- Travel extensively to manufacturing facilities to support regulatory needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Five to ten years of food industry regulatory experience
- Deep knowledge of Food and Drug Administration and United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service regulations and requirements
- Proven experience researching regulatory issues and leading resolution efforts at manufacturing facilities
- Proactive, goal-oriented approach to supporting business objectives
- Strong initiative, creativity, and experience managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Solid understanding of food product development, manufacturing processes, food safety, and allergens
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Adobe, and Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing Product Lifecycle Management systems
- Willingness to travel 75% up to 100% of the time to manufacturing facilities
