About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare monthly PD allocations and ensure accurate supporting records
- Complete monthly deferred revenue reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Review monthly revenue for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with grant terms and accounting policies
- Monitor and manage the financial aspects of grants and contracts
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements, financial reporting, budget restrictions, and allowable costs
- Maintain accurate grant-related financial transaction records
- Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors and funding agencies
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Provide financial data and analysis to program leadership and the finance team
- Assist with grant budgets and financial forecasts
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis
- Work with program managers on budget adherence and potential financial issues
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200)
- Prepare for and assist with grant audits
- Guide other grant accountants on procedures, compliance, and reporting requirements
- Serve as primary grant contact when the Director of Grants and AP is absent
- Track and report restricted and unrestricted funds
- Prepare and submit grant invoices and reimbursement requests
- Manage financial closeout processes for grants and contracts
- Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring grant-management internal controls
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures
- Process grant-related invoices and payments
- Manage grant receivables, invoicing, collections, and reconciliations
- Collaborate with program leadership, finance team members, and stakeholders
- Communicate grant-related financial information clearly and concisely
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 2–3 years of general ledger experience
- Preferred experience with grant billing
- 3–4 years of experience providing guidance or day-to-day support to other accounting staff
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Demonstrated passion for social and racial justice
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Comfort with ambiguity in a fast-paced, all-hands-on-deck environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse personal and professional backgrounds
- Current vaccination status in keeping with CDC recommendations because in-person work is sometimes required
