About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess, diagnose, and treat residents in long-term care facilities
- Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Prescribe and manage medications and therapies tailored to long-term care
- Provide counseling and support to residents and families
- Monitor resident progress and adjust treatment plans
- Educate residents and staff about behavioral health conditions and available resources
- Serve as a leader on a multidisciplinary team to enhance residents’ overall well-being
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric nursing
- Graduation from a state-certified advanced practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health
- At least 1-2 years of direct clinic care experience in behavioral health
- Proficiency in working with both adult and geriatric populations
- Specialty NP experience in Behavioral Health
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Previous experience in psychiatric nursing before transitioning to NP
- Dedication to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development
- Must have certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Must have an unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in Ohio
- Must have a valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in Ohio
- Must have a state-issued Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) in Ohio
- Must be registered with the state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) in Ohio where direct services will be provided
- No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal health care programs (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP)
- Maintain credentials and licensure with all major insurance companies and licensing boards with credentialing staff assistance
- Experience delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
- Proficiency documenting and navigating electronic health records (EHR) independently
- Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality
- Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general and professional documents
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Ability to foster teamwork, train, and direct team members and colleagues
- Excellent organizational skills, including productive independent decision-making
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience as a psychiatric provider
- Preferred: Previous experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility
