About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assessing, diagnosing, and treating residents in the long-term care facility setting
- Developing personalized treatment plans for individuals with various behavioral health conditions including mood disorders, thought disorders, and substance use disorders
- Serving as leaders in a multidisciplinary team working to enhance the overall well-being of residents
- Conducting thorough behavioral health assessments and evaluations for residents
- Developing and overseeing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Prescribing and managing appropriate medications and therapies tailored to the long-term care setting
- Providing counseling and support to residents and their families
- Monitoring resident progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary
- Educating residents and staff about behavioral health conditions and available resources within the long-term care setting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric nursing
- Graduation from a state-certified advance practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health
- At least 1-2 years of direct clinic care experience in behavioral health
- Proficiency in working with both adult and geriatric populations
- Specialty NP experience in Behavioral Health
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Previous experience in psychiatric nursing before transitioning to NP
- Dedication to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development
- Must have a certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Must have an unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the state of Ohio
- Must have a valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in Ohio
- Must have a state-issued Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) in Ohio
- Must be registered with the state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) in Ohio where direct services will be provided
