Key responsibilities & impact

Assessing, diagnosing, and treating residents in the long-term care facility setting
Developing personalized treatment plans for individuals with various behavioral health conditions including mood disorders, thought disorders, and substance use disorders
Serving as leaders in a multidisciplinary team working to enhance the overall well-being of residents
Conducting thorough behavioral health assessments and evaluations for residents
Developing and overseeing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Prescribing and managing appropriate medications and therapies tailored to the long-term care setting
Providing counseling and support to residents and their families
Monitoring resident progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary
Educating residents and staff about behavioral health conditions and available resources within the long-term care setting

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric nursing
Graduation from a state-certified advance practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health
At least 1-2 years of direct clinic care experience in behavioral health
Proficiency in working with both adult and geriatric populations
Specialty NP experience in Behavioral Health
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Previous experience in psychiatric nursing before transitioning to NP
Dedication to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development
Must have a certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Must have an unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the state of Ohio
Must have a valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in Ohio
Must have a state-issued Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) in Ohio
Must be registered with the state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) in Ohio where direct services will be provided
