About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Development Director in executing fundraising strategy and donor engagement plans
- Conduct donor prospect research using wealth screening tools and public resources
- Draft donor research briefs and portfolios for meetings and cultivation
- Assist with donor stewardship and engagement
- Plan and execute North Carolina-based fundraising events, including meetings, venues, logistics, materials, and communications
- Draft fundraising Causenet emails and other communications
- Provide administrative and research support for the Planned Giving program
- Track key data in the CRM and coordinate stewardship for planned giving and bequest documentation
- Maintain accurate donor records, notes, and activity tracking in the ROI CRM system
- Collaborate with organizational teams and provide administrative support
- Coordinate with program, communications, and leadership teams to align campaigns, organizing, advocacy, and other work with fundraising initiatives
- Support advisory board engagement, including agendas, follow-up communications, and logistics
- Support development budgeting and revenue tracking, including analyzing CRM reports for outreach opportunities
- Assist with budgeting preparation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong commitment to Common Cause’s nonpartisan mission and advancing civil rights through its pro-democracy agenda
- Track record of working collaboratively and building relationships with stakeholders with diverse interests
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects with attention to detail and resourcefulness
- Commitment to equity in work goals and relationships
- Openness to feedback and awareness of strengths and growth areas
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Zoom
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms is ideal
- Demonstrated interest in fundraising
- Demonstrated interest in North Carolina’s political dynamic, democracy issues, and/or civil rights
- Ability to travel 1–2 times per year for team and/or all-staff retreats
- Ability to work in person at various locations around North Carolina at least 4 days per month
- Willingness to maintain a social media presence on behalf of Common Cause, including being tagged in posts and creating organizational content as needed
- Must not currently hold elected office, be running for office, serve on a political candidate’s Steering or Finance Committee, or be affiliated with political party leadership
- Position is in a union-represented collective bargaining unit, with specific employment terms subject to negotiations
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; Common Cause cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa
