About the role

  • Perform performance testing on electrical terminals, connectors, and wire-to-wire splices according to USCAR-21 and USCAR-45 specifications.
  • Prepare, configure, and inspect test samples, including crimped connections and ultrasonic welds, prior to testing.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate specialized testing equipment, such as tensile testers, cross-sectioning equipment, and datalogging systems.
  • Record all test data accurately and perform initial analysis to identify any issues or failures.
  • Generate detailed test reports that conform to ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
  • Participate in all aspects of the ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management System, including internal audits, proficiency testing, and corrective actions.
  • Identify and report test anomalies or non-conformities.
  • Assist in troubleshooting component failures and testing equipment issues.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance testing processes, increase efficiency, and reduce measurement uncertainty.
  • Ensure proper handling, identification, and tracking of all test samples from reception through final disposition.
  • Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, ensuring all safety protocols and regulations are followed.

Requirements

  • An Associate's degree in Automotive Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a testing laboratory environment, preferably one accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Familiarity with the test methods, criteria, and procedures specified in SAE/USCAR-21 and SAE/USCAR-45.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems relevant to automotive applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, standards, and test procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a methodical approach to work.
  • Competence with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word) and laboratory-specific software for data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting test results and collaborating with engineering teams.
  • Ability to perform hands-on work, lift equipment, and operate various lab instruments.
