About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Modify existing software for new and existing applications
  • Perform software design activities involving wireless data interfaces and electrical circuits
  • Work with customers to meet specifications and engineering standards
  • Design software structures and control algorithms for company products and systems
  • Prepare proposals for new products and customer-specific applications
  • Provide technical expertise and direction to meet customer requirements
  • Travel to customer sites for product start-up, rarely (less than 1%)
  • Respond to internal and external customer requests for technical information
  • Resolve technical application inquiries and ensure customer requirements are met
  • Evaluate competitor products for applicable technological advantages
  • Solve engineering problems and develop improved methods and approaches
  • Develop engineering manuals, standards, methods, schematics, drawings, logic diagrams, and installation instructions
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to improve processes, productivity, quality, and costs
  • Complete special projects and required paperwork
  • Maintain technical competency and knowledge of industry changes
  • Follow safety and work rules and maintain departmental housekeeping standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 2 years' experience with embedded software programming
  • Mathematical competency
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office, engineering, and other job-related software
  • Ability to operate electronic testing devices and small hand and power tools
  • Ability to operate standard business machines and job-related software
  • 2 years' experience with Industrial Controls and/or Material Handling products, simulation, and systems preferred
  • Strong technical skills
  • Ability to be flexible and prioritize multiple projects concurrently
