Cost Accountant
Columbus McKinnonCost Accountant supporting financial and operational performance by managing cost accounting processes at the Wadesboro facility. Collaborating with multiple departments to drive profitability and efficiency.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze and report on production costs, including material, labor, and overhead variances
- Maintain and validate standard costs, including BOMs, routings, and cost rollups
- Monitor and reconcile inventory balances, including cycle counts and physical inventory
- Investigate cost and inventory variances and partner with operations to identify root causes
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Perform work order variance analysis and ensure proper financial disposition
- Provide gross margin and profitability analysis by product, customer, and production line
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement to analyze purchase price variance
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling activities
- Support internal and external audits related to inventory and cost accounting
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction and process efficiency
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal controls
- Support inventory adjustments, cycle counts, and deficiency reporting
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in accounting or related field
- 0–2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related field
