About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide tutoring to students as an employee of Centers for Academic Success
  • Assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them in person or online to clarify learning problems and work on study skills
  • Review class material, discuss best approaches to reading the text, predict test questions, formulate ideas for papers, and work on solutions to problems
  • Provide support that supplements classroom teaching

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Have at least 12 hours of undergraduate work with an earned overall college grade point average of at least 3.0 (transcripts must be submitted)
  • Have earned a B or higher in the subject applying to tutor
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills while working with students from varied backgrounds and skill levels
  • Demonstrate knowledge of effective study skills and strategies during tutoring sessions and interviews
  • Having previous tutorial experience in subject matter is a definite plus
  • Provide a recommendation from a faculty member that teaches the subject you wish to tutor
