About the role
- Lead the preparation of group financial statements and management accounts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax and regulatory requirements across all jurisdictions.
- Develop and maintain robust financial controls, policies and procedures.
- Assist the Head of Finance and CFO on forecasting, budgeting and performance analysis.
- Oversee audit processes and act as key point of contact for external auditors.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and support to finance colleagues and the wider business.
- Ensure office bank accounts are reconciled on a timely basis with appropriate review and sign-off.
- Oversee reconciliation controls, investigating variances and strengthening processes where needed.
- Oversee tax compliance across jurisdictions ensuring timely and accurate filling of corporate tax, GST / VAT, and other returns.
- Monitor regulatory reporting obligations and coordinate submissions to relevant authorities.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of tax and regulatory developments, advising on implications for the group.
- Liaise with external advisors and regulators to resolve queries and support compliance reviews.
- Oversee accounting for partner distributions and capital interest, ensuring compliance with tax rules and accurate partner statements.
- Support partner reporting including draw schedules, profit allocations and related disclosures.
- Liaise with Partners' tax advisers, providing accurate financial information to support preparation or Partners' tax returns.
Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
- Significant post qualification experience in a finance role, preferably within professional services or a law firm.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS / FRS and multi-jurisdictional accounting.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven track record of improving financial processes and controls.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to communicate financial information clearly.
- Strong systems knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience managing a team and building effective processes.
- Displays maturity and confidence, with a desire to own processes.
- Effective time management skills, able to work to deadlines and prioritise under pressure.
- Experience utilising a practice management system such as Elite 3E.
- Experience preparing trust and company accounts.
