About the role

  • Lead the preparation of group financial statements and management accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax and regulatory requirements across all jurisdictions.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial controls, policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Head of Finance and CFO on forecasting, budgeting and performance analysis.
  • Oversee audit processes and act as key point of contact for external auditors.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to finance colleagues and the wider business.
  • Ensure office bank accounts are reconciled on a timely basis with appropriate review and sign-off.
  • Oversee reconciliation controls, investigating variances and strengthening processes where needed.
  • Oversee tax compliance across jurisdictions ensuring timely and accurate filling of corporate tax, GST / VAT, and other returns.
  • Monitor regulatory reporting obligations and coordinate submissions to relevant authorities.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of tax and regulatory developments, advising on implications for the group.
  • Liaise with external advisors and regulators to resolve queries and support compliance reviews.
  • Oversee accounting for partner distributions and capital interest, ensuring compliance with tax rules and accurate partner statements.
  • Support partner reporting including draw schedules, profit allocations and related disclosures.
  • Liaise with Partners' tax advisers, providing accurate financial information to support preparation or Partners' tax returns.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant post qualification experience in a finance role, preferably within professional services or a law firm.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS / FRS and multi-jurisdictional accounting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record of improving financial processes and controls.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to communicate financial information clearly.
  • Strong systems knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience managing a team and building effective processes.
  • Displays maturity and confidence, with a desire to own processes.
  • Effective time management skills, able to work to deadlines and prioritise under pressure.
  • Experience utilising a practice management system such as Elite 3E.
  • Experience preparing trust and company accounts.
