About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the full sales cycle from identifying leads and initial outreach through proof-of-concept, pilot, deal close, and deployment
- Acquire net-new logos through outbound activity and relationship building with energy and utility industry stakeholders
- Leverage key decision-maker and influencer relationships to accelerate engagements, partnerships, and sales opportunities
- Act as a consultative, trusted advisor to customers and prospects
- Understand customer challenges, goals, and technology ecosystems and tailor solutions to create measurable business impact
- Partner with channel partners to scale outreach and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with product, engineering, customer success, marketing, sales development, and solution architecture teams
- Oversee projects after contract signing to ensure deployment success
- Provide field feedback to product and engineering teams to help prioritize the product roadmap
- Own the territory and drive strategic sales motions with large enterprise customers
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of B2B sales experience with Global 2000 and large enterprises in the energy (oil and gas) and utility sectors
- Experience negotiating and closing transformational 2–5 year SaaS deals in the seven-figure range
- Track record of high performance and exceeding quota
- Technical consultative sales experience with complex products such as developer tools, API products, or AI/NLP solutions is a plus
- Experience supporting customers during solution deployment and production configuration
- Experience working with channel partners such as cloud hyperscalers and system integrators
- Deep understanding of energy (oil and gas) and utility industries, including trends, challenges, and opportunities
- Ability to articulate the value of AI and NLP solutions for energy and utility operations
- Experience with industry-specific regulatory and compliance requirements
- Ability to understand NLP and Cohere’s technology and its applications in energy and utility sectors
- Strong listening, relationship-building, and communication skills, including comfort speaking with C-suite, technical, and non-technical audiences
- High tolerance for ambiguity and ability to work as a self-starter, doer, and strategist
