About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Stop work for safety concerns and abide by safety best practices, policies, and procedures
  • Lead and support safe, compliant exploration programs under HSE policies, MSHA requirements, and site standards
  • Lead district-scale exploration planning, including target generation and ranking, program design, cost and schedule development, and alignment with Life of Mine and long-term growth strategy
  • Coordinate surface and underground exploration programs, including mapping, sampling, drilling, core logging, contractor communication, drill tracking, and field logistics
  • Interpret geological models, maps, sections, assay results, structural data, geochemistry, and 3D datasets
  • Evaluate mineralization controls, continuity, grade distribution, alteration, structure, geologic risk, and exploration potential
  • Maintain geological data quality and standards for data collection, interpretation, QA/QC, documentation, and reporting
  • Communicate exploration progress, geologic risks, orebody knowledge gaps, recommendations, maps, graphics, and technical summaries to leadership
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to geologists, technicians, and contractors
  • Track costs, consumables, contractor performance, and field efficiencies
  • Collaborate across Exploration, Geology, Mine Operations, Technical Services, Environmental, and other site teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related geoscience discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of mineral exploration experience
  • Ability to work safely and promote safe behavior in others
  • Strong field and technical exploration skills, including mapping, sampling, drilling, core logging, geological interpretation, and target generation
  • Experience designing, executing, and managing drilling, soil geochemistry, or other exploration field programs
  • Experience integrating deposit- to district-scale geological models, maps, sections, structural interpretations, geochemistry, and 3D datasets
  • Ability to recognize regional- to camp-scale patterns, develop testable concepts, and advance growth opportunities
  • Ability to interpret mineralization controls, continuity, grade distribution, alteration, structure, and geologic uncertainty
  • Knowledge of precious metals exploration, underground gold systems, structurally controlled mineralization, vein-hosted deposits, and ore-forming processes
  • Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, community responsibility, and disciplined field execution
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor others, influence without direct authority, and build capability through coaching and knowledge sharing
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, presentation, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in challenging field environments with changing priorities
  • Ability to safely perform mining-environment work, including outdoor, surface, and underground duties
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and escapeways; lift and carry up to 50 pounds often and 70 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection when applicable, and participate in emergency response and evacuation procedures
  • Preferred: post-graduate degree in exploration, mineral deposits, structural geology, economic geology, or related field
  • Preferred: experience with underground, orogenic gold, intrusive-related, structurally controlled deposits, or Alaska/Southeast Alaska environments
  • Preferred: experience using Leapfrog, ArcGIS, ioGas, acQuire, and related geological or geochemical software
  • Preference given to Alaska residents
