About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and manage complex program workstreams and translate high-level priorities into actionable plans
Collaborate with government agencies, community organizations, product teams, and other internal and external stakeholders
Identify project success metrics and make data-informed decisions
Proactively identify, resolve, and escalate roadblocks
Track, synthesize, and share relevant policy and process context
Develop best practices and share learnings with cross-functional partners
Identify risks, opportunities, and strategic tradeoffs and escalate them to leadership
Build and sustain strategic partnerships across government, nonprofit, and private sectors
Support product roadmaps, design, content, research, and communication of technical and design decisions
Conduct client and community partner outreach and share community insights
Participate in program activities and present findings and advocate for policy change
Report to the Associate Program Director
Travel up to 15% of the time
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 5 years of experience in program development or related fields, with increasing responsibility
Experience working with social safety net programs, tax benefits, government agencies, or nonprofit organizations
Strong project management skills focused on execution, risk mitigation, opportunity spotting, and clear communication
Experience building and managing effective partnerships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build consensus and create clear, persuasive presentations and documentation
Ability to influence diverse stakeholders
Analytical skills and comfort working with data
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, results-oriented environment
Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage multiple projects and priorities
Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time
Curiosity about emerging AI tools and commitment to using them responsibly and effectively
Deep commitment to Code for America’s mission
Must reside full-time within the United States
Full-time availability, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Bonus qualifications include human-centered design methodologies, close collaboration with product and technical teams, navigating difficult conversations, and experience with tax benefits, the criminal legal system, or social safety net programs
