About the role
- Lead the engineering design function and shape Coates’ national strategy for engineered solutions.
- Drive a Safety-First culture across the organization and customer relationships.
- Design and draft engineered temporary works solutions ensuring compliance with Australian Standards.
- Provide onsite engineering services including inspection, testing, and technical support.
- Manage delivery of engineering certifications leveraging both internal and external chartered engineers.
- Develop best-practice, cost-effective designs that meet legislative and environmental requirements.
- Identify opportunities to enhance Coates’ technical offerings in line with market trends and customer needs.
- Build strong industry presence by representing Coates through professional memberships and trade shows.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team focusing on accountability and growth.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Requirements
- MIE Aust, CPEng, NER & RPEQ qualified in Civil & Structural discipline
- Civil and/or Structural Engineering Degree qualification as recognised by the Institution of Engineers Australia
- Extensive experience delivering engineered solutions within construction, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of legislative, environmental, and compliance standards relevant to temporary works and equipment design.
- Demonstrated success in leading technical teams and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to balance innovation, safety, and cost-efficiency.
- A passion for safety and continuous improvement.
