About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serves as a swim instructor for outdoor pool work
- Instruct students of all ages in individual or small group swim lessons
- Build positive relationships with students and assess individual needs
- Create daily swim lesson plans for a minimum 8 lesson period
- Observes swimmers and ensures all participants are always accounted for
- Ensures all water safety rules are observed by swimmers
- Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed
- Assists in maintaining pool and keeping all areas clean
- Participates as part of the Aquatic Facility Safety Team
- Provides assistance during emergency situations including evacuating the pool, calling 9-1-1, providing CPR, or providing first aid
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must possess, or obtain within 90 days of hire, and maintain CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent (i.e. Star or Ellis)
- First Aid certification
- CPR certification
- Must be able to communicate in English (both verbally and in writing)
- Persons must be at least 16 years of age
- Work experience related to the duties described above (preferred)
