About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Management of a retail activity with annual sales of under $5M
- Direction and supervision of all store personnel
- Assists customers and resolves complaints
- Interviews, hires, trains, or directs training of assigned personnel
- Encourages and develops employees by coaching, providing adequate training, and opportunities for growth
- Assists in developing promotional sales in conjunction with the CSC HQ staff
- Oversees competitive price checks and submits to HQ buying staff to change pricing
- Works with vendors and the HQ buying staff in executing operations of assigned departments or selections
- Ensures store recovery
- Supervises vending and warehouse operations
- Welcomes customers, maintains product knowledge and helps with the selection of merchandise
- Reacts to all concerns of customers quickly with a sense of importance
- Key carrier, opening and closing of the store as required, weekends as scheduled
- Reviews monthly P&L’s with goal of comparing actual figures to plan, initiates a plan of action to align future months if necessary
- Adheres to all policies regarding Loss Prevention
- Ensures all policies regarding safety standards and emergency preparedness are met
- Ensures all employees receive Coast Guard required training
Requirements
What you’ll need- Two years of progressively responsible experience in a position equivalent to a department manager or assistant manager
- Completion of the CGX Leadership Development program (LDP)
- Current USCG NAF employee with demonstrated experience performing key store operations
- Ability to routinely lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time
- P&L analysis experience (preferred)
- Prior retail merchandising experience (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with emphasis in retail or business administration with at least two years of specialized experience (preferred)
- General business experience may be substituted for degree on a year for year basis (preferred)
