About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and implement data ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines in modern architectures (Data Lake, Lakehouse, Bronze/Silver/Gold layers or equivalents);
  • Lead the migration of traditional BI workloads and models to modern environments, preserving traceability and ensuring data quality;
  • Develop solutions in Python and SQL with a focus on maintainability, testability, and performance;
  • Integrate data sources using event-driven architectures (Kafka or equivalents), ensuring low latency and consistency;
  • Define and document data modeling, quality, and governance standards for team adoption;
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and product teams to ensure delivered data is correct, reliable, and usable.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong experience with Python for data engineering: ETL/ELT, orchestration (Airflow, Prefect, or equivalents), transformation frameworks (dbt, Spark, or equivalents);
  • Advanced SQL: dimensional modeling, window functions, query optimization in distributed environments;
  • Knowledge of Data Lake/Lakehouse architectures and their implications for partitioning, file formats (Parquet, Delta, Iceberg), and data cataloguing;
  • Experience with streaming and event platforms: Kafka, Kinesis, or equivalents;
  • Familiarity with data quality and observability tools (Great Expectations, Monte Carlo, or equivalents);
  • Ability to clearly document architectural decisions and track the impact of changes across the data ecosystem.
