About the role
- An Area Director leads and oversees a ministry team to plant and grow witnessing communities of students and faculty on college and university campuses.
- Model spiritual maturity and pursue personal spiritual growth.
- Inspire, coach and develop campus staff ministers, students, faculty, and ministry partners to increase the number, size, health, spiritual maturity, and campus influence of witnessing communities.
- Create vision, lead teams through Scripture, prayer, teaching and discipleship.
- Lead team planning, adapt plans, and develop structures to achieve ministry goals.
- Recruit, develop, and supervise ministers; establish diverse and healthy relationships across racial and ethnic lines.
- Participate in regional leadership, collaborate with national and regional InterVarsity staff; manage budgets, reporting, finances, human resources; establish systems and protocols.
- Develop ministry partnerships and ensure ministry budget is fully funded through fundraising; supervise staff MPD; build resource networks with alumni, volunteers, churches, donors.
- Travel to campuses, conferences, MPD meetings, and trainings; maintain regular communication and office/administrative tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum three years campus ministry or equivalent work experience required
- Strong ministry skills (including the ability to communicate spiritual vision, teach spiritual and biblical principles, plan ministry programs, and spiritually disciple, coach and mentor)
- Proven ability to work well with others and the ability to develop a team of campus ministers.
- Strong interpersonal skills (including ability to minister to diverse ethnic communities and faculty)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Familiarity with word processing, presentation, email, and spreadsheet software
- Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement (Doctrinal Basis and Purpose Statement).
