About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Engage with underwriting to drive corporate strategies for the Commercial Liability line of business
  • Analyze Risk Control strengths and weaknesses to maintain a competitive marketplace edge
  • Develop global Risk Control strategies to improve Liability loss ratios, new business goals and retention requirements
  • Support enterprise-wide technical expertise, organizational learning, development and industry specialization
  • Review and direct evaluation and assessment of large and complex risks and significant exposures across multiple product lines, focusing on national or international accounts
  • Apply Risk Control policies, guidelines, insurance laws and regulations
  • Resolve critical and cost-driver Risk Control issues
  • Influence the direction, development and implementation of Risk Control policy, operating plans and business strategy
  • Propose and develop new products and services with a global focus
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external business partners
  • Shape new industry relationships as an expert among Risk Control staff and CNA partners
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree with Masters preferred, or equivalent experience with professional designation(s) needed for the industry, segment or LOB being represented
  • Minimum of ten years of risk control experience
  • Applicable designations preferred
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, decision making and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners
  • Senior level technical and business management acumen
  • Knowledge of insurance and risk management principles, practices and procedures
  • Contract management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and simultaneously manage multiple projects and teams
  • Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business situations
  • Ability to achieve portfolio-level results through a proactive, long-term view of business goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software
  • Expertise in Commercial Liability
  • Ability and willingness to travel
