About the role

  • Owns and communicates Product Vision and Product Roadmap for commercial underwriting solutions
  • Owns outcomes at the Agile Release Train (ART) level and decomposes roadmap into Program Increment (PI) work
  • Collaborates with business owners, solution architects, product owners and delivery teams
  • Develops benefit hypotheses and acceptance criteria; engages in portfolio-level meetings and budget insights
  • Prioritizes architecture work with system architects and participates in PI ceremonies and release management
  • Partners with application support to prioritize defects and user feedback; supports change management, training and communications
  • Coaches and mentors Product Owners and supports development of a high-performing Product Management team
  • Hybrid role based in Chicago, IL with potential remote work and travel to Chicago as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years' experience in the Commercial insurance industry
  • Eight years' experience as a Product Manager, Senior Product Owner, Product Owner, or similar role
  • Typically a minimum of ten years of related work experience
  • Experience leading large underwriting-related initiatives supporting multiple business units and stakeholders
  • Deep knowledge of Underwriting and Operations processes across multiple P&C lines of business
  • Broad underwriting experience (risk assessment and pricing tools, low touch underwriting, global coverage placement) preferred
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop teams using the Lean-Agile mindset
  • Strong strategic thinking, roadmap and program planning skills
  • Excellent conflict resolution, facilitation, interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills with integrity and professionalism
  • Experience with Agile methodologies; SAFe PO/PM, CSPO or PSPO preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred or equivalent work experience
