About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Identify, analyze, design, and maintain cost-effective information technology solutions aligned with business initiatives and corporate strategies
  • Work with business-unit customers to identify business requirements
  • Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware, operating-system environments, interfaces, controls, and output
  • Document and diagram information for databases, input/output record layouts, and program views
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain systems with support from ISD areas, team members, and management
  • Code programs, prepare test data, test, and debug programs
  • Revise and refine programs for changes in functional requirements and equipment configurations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational problems and system requirements
  • Participate in system/application testing and implementation
  • Maintain and monitor systems/applications after implementation
  • Develop and maintain documentation covering program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections
  • Provide technical support to customers
  • Participate in training peers and SQA staff on new or modified systems/applications
  • Collaborate with software developers and SQA analysts
  • Investigate defects and bugs
  • Design and develop test automation scripts using test automation frameworks
  • May work occasionally outside normal working hours and may be on call 24/7 for technical support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be local to Vienna, VA; resumes from non-local applicants will not be considered
  • Demonstrated experience in systems analysis and design, workflow, or procedural analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in application development, including determining, developing, testing, and implementing system requirements and specifications
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize tasks
  • Experience using established testing techniques
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience
  • Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and use good judgment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of distributed application programming experience
  • Experience with Java, J2EE, SOA, middleware, integration technologies, and frameworks including JSP, JSTL, JMS, JNDI, JDBC, JAXB, Struts, Hibernate, Maven, log4j, and JUnit
  • Solid understanding of Java Web Services, WSDL, SOAP, XML, RESTful Web Services Development Kit
  • Relational database experience, preferably DB2, SQL Server, or Oracle
  • Knowledge of mainframe systems
  • Experience with data migration and mapping to cloud solutions
  • Experience with SFTP and data file transfers
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks
  • Desired: college degree(s) in information technology, computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience
