About the role
- As a DevOps Engineer, you ensure our processes are efficient, automated and future-proof.
- You accompany the entire development cycle — from the initial idea through implementation to production rollout.
- You don’t just focus on technical implementation, you think ahead: How can infrastructures be built smarter? Where can automation help? Which technologies are best for scalable architectures?
- In customer projects you apply your expertise to manage and optimize self-hosted infrastructures with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and to continuously evolve Nix-based development environments and CI workflows.
- You bring extensive knowledge of NixOS, especially in system-wide configuration management and declarative infrastructure.
- You can use Colmena efficiently to orchestrate cluster deployments and roll out configuration changes safely and in a coordinated manner.
- You use Terranix to combine NixOS with Terraform and to extend and automate Infrastructure-as-Code approaches.
- You are familiar with OpenStack as a cloud environment, able to provision instances, manage networks, and design infrastructure to be scalable and resilient.
Requirements
- Practical experience over purely academic background: a degree is not required — what matters is that you have independently made technology decisions and executed projects using two to three programming languages, particularly Go.
- Technical expertise & decisiveness: you can understand, structure and implement complex technical concepts and have the ability to independently learn new topics while maintaining an overview.
- Communication skills: you can communicate confidently in both German and English in technical discussions and represent yourself clearly in both languages in team and client interactions.
- Analytical and solution-oriented thinking: you are enthusiastic about innovative technologies and able to apply them purposefully in consulting and development processes.
- Knowledge of NixOS, Colmena, Terranix and OpenStack is desirable.
Benefits
- Established remote culture: whether from our Munich office, your hometown or anywhere else in Germany — you can work from wherever you are.
- Variable compensation: flexible variable pay is granted via one-time bonuses for meeting targets or via sales and consulting successes (e.g., customer acquisition, unlocking potential, or accelerated project completions).
- Hardware setup: if you need equipment for your home office, let us know — you can of course also use your own hardware.
- A team of experienced experts & senior engineers is always at your side, whether for a digital coffee in the afternoon or to answer questions.
- Everyone is part of management: employees have the opportunity to make important decisions and help shape the company.
- A culture of responsibility & equal footing from day one: regardless of background, age or gender, we are a team that shows 100% respect, practices clear communication and supports each other at all times.
- Urban Sports Club & team events are included to complement both your free time and your connection with the team.
