About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise international and domestic clients on complex insurance, reinsurance, and regulatory matters
- Work closely with partners on high-value coverage disputes, transactional and corporate insurance work, and advisory mandates
- Handle matters involving the Bermuda market’s legal and regulatory environment
- Manage client relationships
- Mentor junior lawyers
- Contribute to the continued growth and development of the practice
- Handle litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution in insurance and reinsurance disputes
- Draft and negotiate policy wordings, coverage opinions, settlement agreements, and commercial contracts
- Provide practical, business-oriented advice to insurers, reinsurers, and brokers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong technical expertise in insurance and reinsurance law
- Proven experience advising on complex coverage, claims, and policy interpretation matters
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Bermuda insurance and reinsurance market, including regulatory frameworks, market practices, and cross-border considerations
- Solid experience handling litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution in insurance and reinsurance disputes
- Ability to manage and advise on large-scale, multi-jurisdictional matters
- Ability to work seamlessly with international teams and clients
- Proven track record in regulatory advisory work, including compliance with Bermuda Monetary Authority requirements and broader international regulations
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills across policy wordings, coverage opinions, settlement agreements, and commercial contracts
- Commercial acumen and ability to provide practical, business-oriented advice
- Leadership qualities with experience mentoring junior associates and contributing to team development
- Excellent client relationship management skills
