About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and manage litigation matters as part of a team with Clyde & Co partners and lawyers, as well as with clients;
  • Provide legal advice and opinions across various areas, notably construction law, insurance law, civil and professional liability, among others;
  • Work closely with experts to prepare and present clients' positions;
  • Understand and synthesize complex legal, factual, and technical issues;
  • Prepare and conduct examinations for discovery and interrogatories, either independently or as part of a team;
  • Draft pleadings, briefs, and other court filings;
  • Argue and present applications and motions before the court, and participate in mediations and trials;
  • Perform other responsibilities related to the role or as new business priorities emerge.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Civil law degree from a recognized university;
  • Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar;
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant litigation experience, particularly in insurance law, construction law, commercial litigation, and professional liability;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent written and spoken English and French, and an outstanding academic and professional record;
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent analytical and synthesizing abilities;
  • Excellent judgment and legal reasoning;
  • Integrity, high degree of rigor, and attention to detail;
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness;
  • Ability to develop legal strategies;
  • Ease in building trusted relationships with clients and external partners when applicable, as well as with partners, other lawyers, and staff at all levels within the firm;
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
