Accounting Manager

• **Basic Overview of Role and Responsibilities:**
• The Accounting Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department and ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.
• - Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the accounting team.
• - Lead the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation of accounts.
• - Make recommendations for process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency within the department.
• - Monitor cash flow and bank account balances to ensure adequate liquidity.
• - Review and track all bank debits and credits.
• - Monitor Customs & Duties reports for accuracy and compliance.
• - Supervise Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• - Manage overhead invoices.
• - Oversee daily Positive Pay submissions for fraud prevention.
• - Generate and distribute Statements of Account (SOA) and aging reports.
• - Manage delinquent and past due accounts; negotiate and maintain payment plans with clients.
• - Conduct accounting team meetings to review timelines, resolve issues, and assign projects.
• - Establish and update accounting processes as needed.
• - Record payroll journal entries.
• - Coordinate with agents for contra settlements.
• - Reconcile all bank accounts.
• - Code and reconcile corporate credit card statements using cost codes.
• - Manage U.S. Customs and Border Protection pulls, ensuring accurate bank debit transactions.
• - Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for AR/AP processes.
• - Identify and implement accounting process improvements.
• - Explore and implement cost-effective solutions for AP payments to reduce accounting fees.
• - Serve as backup to the Senior AR/AP Specialist.
• - Provide cross-functional support for various departmental projects and initiatives.

Accounting Supervisor

Manager

• Supervise the team of entry writers and manage team performance to KPIs
• Collaborate to streamline brokerage workflows to optimize entry processing time, reduce errors, and enhance client service
• Manage capacity and entry volume across the team to ensure high quality performance
• Co-lead weekly team huddles, identify focus areas, provide coaching to entry writing team, and assist with performance reviews
• Serve as a consultant on U.S. customs laws, regulations (e.g., 19 CFR), and partner government agency (PGA) requirements
• Act as escalation for entry questions and difficult entries (PGAs, bonds, drawback, valuation)
• Oversee classification, valuation, and admissibility procedures
• Stay up to date with CBP rulings, trade policy changes, and industry developments (e.g., USMCA, Section 301/232/IEEPA, antidumping/countervailing duties)
• Act as a senior liaison with clients on compliance matters, import requirements, and regulatory changes
• Collaborate with sales, operations, and finance teams to support client onboarding, questions, and issue resolution
• Assist with new account implementation
• Work with Director of Compliance to enhance the CHB department’s use of CargoWise and assist with implementation of an AI solution
• Support implementation of new systems and continuous process improvement
• Identify, develop, implement, and oversee new product offerings
