About the role
- Lead email traffic launch and warm-up strategies for new services.
- Design and execute IP and domain warm-up plans, including ramp schedules, monitoring, and corrective actions.
- Own email reputation management, including proactive monitoring of RBLs, ISP feedback, and reputation signals.
- Define and monitor deliverability KPIs such as inbox placement, delivery rate, complaint rate, and bounce rate.
- Partner with platform engineers to translate deliverability requirements into controls and guardrails.
- Analyse traffic patterns to detect abuse, misconfiguration, or anomalous sending behaviour.
- Investigate and mitigate false positives, false negatives, and escalations related to email filtering.
- Document ISP-specific behaviors, geographic traffic characteristics, and known deliverability constraints.
- Support production incidents related to deliverability, reputation degradation, or traffic spikes.
Requirements
- 5+ years working with email systems or outbound email traffic in production.
- Direct experience launching new email services or IP pools, not just maintaining existing ones.
- Hands-on responsibility for:
- IP and domain warm-up
- Reputation recovery and protection
- ISP-specific deliverability tuning
- 5+ years of experience with Python or Go
- Solid experience working with GNU/Linux and Bash / Shell scripting
- Strong understanding of:
- SMTP behavior and common failure modes
- Bounce handling, complaint feedback loops, and suppression logic
- Abuse vectors and their impact on sender reputation
- Proven experience working with high-volume or reputation-sensitive email traffic.
- Familiarity with:
- SPF, DKIM, DMARC and their operational impact
- RBLs and reputation monitoring tools
- Traffic segmentation and throttling strategies
- Comfortable working with logs, metrics, and dashboards to drive decisions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with platform engineers.
