About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work on Cloudflare’s globally distributed Quicksilver large-scale key-value store
- Write new features in Go and review pull requests
- Improve performance, including CPU and memory usage
- Improve monitoring and tooling written in Go
- Debug and investigate hard-to-reproduce problems
- Own and support the full stack, including code, unit and integration tests, deployment and rollback plans, operations, monitoring, alerting, debugging, and on-call
- Handle challenges involving network issues, hardware failures, kernel bugs, and reliable data delivery to the edge
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous experience writing robust systems, with attention to code quality, performance, and technical debt
- Proven experience with storage systems, peer-to-peer systems, large-scale distributed systems, or system programming
- Experience investigating problems through multiple layers of a software stack
- Flexibility and autonomy, with experience developing simple and smart designs for complex issues
- Track record of pragmatic engineering and simple solutions
- Enjoyment of both low-level and high-level programming
- Familiarity with programming languages
- Ability to give and receive constructive criticism in a collaborative team
- Willingness to engage in outages during antisocial hours
- Authorization to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export laws without sponsorship for an export license may be required
