About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain the Cloudflare global network and Data Center environment operational availability
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Network Engineering, SRE, vendors, partners, logistics providers, and service providers supporting infrastructure across 330+ cities and 125+ countries
- Create documentation, plans, SOPs, and MOPs
- Manage and instruct remote contractors completing datacenter tasks
- Support and configure network infrastructure where required
- Leverage AI tools to automate repetitive operational tasks, accelerate documentation, and speed up troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
- Provide feedback to internal teams to improve internal tools and external vendor partnerships
- Define, document, and implement consistent processes across regions
- Participate in a shared on-call rotation to maintain 24×7 global network availability
- Seek scalable technology and automation solutions to improve deployment and infrastructure maintenance
- Assist with complex data center and infrastructure projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience with Juniper, Cisco, and DWDM network equipment
- Minimum 4 years of Linux systems administration experience
- Experience managing and instructing remote contractors
- Familiarity with standing up infrastructure in remote colocation facilities
- Experience running and improving operational processes, including automation tooling, in a rapidly changing environment
- Familiarity with Data Center Operations tasks including deployment, migration, and decommissioning
- Comfort handling basic program management responsibilities including prioritization, planning, scheduling, and status reporting, using tools such as JIRA
- Willingness to participate in a shared on-call rotation for 24×7 operational availability
- Deep technical understanding of data center colocation environments, network architecture, and server technologies
- Direct experience executing complex data center/infrastructure projects
- Experience installing and maintaining data center and IT infrastructure and DCIM tools
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
- Proactive approach and ability to learn quickly and execute multiple tasks simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or MIS is desirable
- Linux or network certifications such as RHCSA, CCNA, or JNCIA are bonus points
- Experience with configuration management systems such as SaltStack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible is a bonus
- Scripting or software development experience in Bash, Python, or Go is a bonus
- Familiarity with load balancing and reverse proxies such as Nginx, Varnish, HAProxy, or Apache is a bonus
- Ability to obtain authorization to receive technology controlled under U.S. export laws without sponsorship for an export license, if required
