About the role

  • Maintain and develop Cloudflare’s main web server processing massive HTTP requests per second
  • Create new customer-facing features, improve existing features, and increase availability, safety, and reliability of the edge ecosystem
  • Build new systems from scratch and collaborate with platform and product teams
  • Work closely with operations and other engineering teams to deploy, monitor, and scale systems globally
  • Collaborate across teams to drive communication, consensus, and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Experience in Rust
  • Experience in Golang
  • Experience in Kubernetes
  • Solid competencies in practical computer science, applying the right algorithms, data structures, concurrency control systems to software design, and building large, distributed systems
  • Experience in performance engineering
  • Driving communication and consensus across teams
  • A drive for continuous improvement in operations and new product development
  • Knowledge of web servers and web protocols (bonus)
  • Knowledge of distributed systems (bonus)
  • Knowledge of web security issues and industry standards (bonus)
  • Use of Prometheus (bonus)
  • May require authorization to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export laws without sponsorship for an export license
