About the role

  • Help ensure that every site owner has the ability to provide their users with a secure connection.
  • Write and maintain functional specifications for your service, so others know how it works.
  • Integrate multiple services via message queue systems.
  • Evaluate 3rd party and open source tools.
  • Design and implement alerts.
  • Serve as an escalation point for unresolved operational issues.
  • Read and understand code from a legacy codebase to migrate logic to modern services architecture.
  • Review the code of fellow engineers via pull requests.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience building backend systems at a technology company
  • Experience writing production-quality code in Go (or other languages with a willingness to learn Go)
  • Proven experience building and operating distributed systems
  • Proficiency with modern Unix/Linux development and runtime environments
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail
  • Track record of delivering well-tested, reliable code for production environments.
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and full-stack applications
  • Familiarity with PKI/TLS concepts and certificate management
  • Experience writing technical documentation and specifications
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Understanding of distributed systems constraints: performance, caching, data storage/retrieval
  • Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc)
