About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support development of the AI team's core strategy and contribute to fundraising, proposal development, and donor engagement
- Own potential new AI expansion areas by exploring strategies, assessing feasibility, and helping recruit initial team members
- Partner in scaling the team across hiring, onboarding, operations, and delivery
- Coordinate engagement across CHAI's 30+ country offices and integrate the AI team into existing programs and country structures
- Move between strategic analysis and hands-on execution to address critical team needs
- Use modern AI productivity tools to build, automate, and systematize team workflows
- Prepare strategic materials, analyses, and communications for internal and external audiences
- Represent the AI team at conferences and external forums
- Undertake additional responsibilities supporting team growth and success
Requirements
What you’ll need- Passion for AI and its potential to improve health systems in low- and middle-income countries
- 4 to 8 years of relevant professional experience
- Advanced user of modern AI productivity tools, such as Claude Cowork, Claude Code, and Codex
- Genuine passion for tinkering and building
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to distill complex topics clearly
- Strong analytical ability
- Demonstrated capacity to pick up new topics quickly
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth, limited-structure environment and handle ambiguity
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively to CHAI country offices and represent the team at conferences
- Strong preference for colocation in Boston, working in person with the Head of AI and from a CHAI office 1–2 days per week when not travelling
- Preferred: experience in health, global development, or a related field
- Preferred: experience in management consulting or a similar analytical, fast-paced setting
- Preferred: experience supporting the growth or operations of a rapidly scaling team
