About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the Malaria and Community Health Worker (CHW) departments, providing support for data analysis as needed.
  • Support the rollout and monitor the performance of existing and new surveillance processes and platforms to improve data collection, reporting, data management, automated analysis, and data visualization (e.g., dashboards).
  • Help embed a culture of data-driven decision-making by improving data quality and use, and translating findings into actionable programmatic insights through high-quality presentations and reports.
  • Support institutionalization of routine data reviews at all levels, including development and use of data collection tools and dashboards (e.g., Tableau, DHIS2).
  • Contribute to the development of disease program documents, including surveillance guidelines and SOPs, M&E plans, lessons-learned reports, and operational manuals.
  • Support development and implementation of comprehensive research protocols, including sampling design, creation of data collection instruments, and preparation of analysis plans, ensuring effective operationalization during field implementation.
  • Represent CHAI at external technical meetings with local academic and technical partners.
  • Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct and ensure data privacy.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience with increasing responsibility and leadership, including program management.
  • Experience conducting and managing epidemiological research in-country, including analysis of surveillance and survey data.
  • Proficiency in data entry, data management, epidemiological and statistical analysis using software such as R, Stata, and/or other relevant tools.
  • Strong interest in applying research methods to address global health challenges, with a focus on malaria.
  • Experience working and communicating with government officials and external partners.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web/internet applications.
  • Ability to work independently in remote and unstructured settings and adapt to new environments and challenges.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a multicultural team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both French and English, with the ability to deliver persuasive presentations and produce clear reports.
  • Willingness to travel 30–50% of the time.
